Good Move – activewear by Marks and Spencer

Finding good activewear for a plus size, curvy or fuller figure is not easy! We’ve all been there – splitting seams or transparent bottoms. So how does the Good Move by Marks and Spencer activewear hold up on a plus size figure?

I am that annoying person in theActivewear by Skit Box video. Ninety percent of my free time is spent in leggings, a hoody and trainers/walking footwear. In my defence, I do spend most of my time (or I did pre-pregnancy illness) outside getting as much fresh air as possible. I practiceyogaas much as I can and walk the dog come rain and shine.

Thinking about starting yoga but worried that you don’t have the “right” kind of body for it? Don’t worry, my plus size yoga guide will answer all your questions. Read it here.

So, whilst I have acapsule wardrobeof only thirty items of clothing for work and socialising, my activewear wardrobe is substantially larger. It has to cover everything; from trapeze yoga to wet and windy days on Dartmoor; from cycling down muddy, disused railway tracks to a pilates session in my spare room.

So when I heard about the newGood Move range by Marks and Spencer, a range that claims to see you through everything from walking the dog to running a 10k, I had to test it out to see if it is worth the hype.

The range has everything from sports bras to leggings, from coats to thermal base layers, from leggings to trainers. You can really buy your entire activewear wardrobe from this range with five legging styles on offer. I am wearing theGo Perform compression leggings in black, thesuper soft hoodie in grey, and themedium impact printed sports bra. Fashion Life Mag padded jacket I’m wearing is actually an older, Jack Wolfskin purchase but Marks and Spencer have similar padded jackets – I just can’t speak for the quality of those as haven’t tried them. They do, however, look pretty snuggly for a day out walking.

The range comes in sizes 6 to 24 and is priced from £9.50 for sports tops through to around £50 for jackets and the more technologically advanced leggings. It also included thermal layers, prefect for wearing for outdoor activities in the colder months.

Compression leggings are my favourite for any work out. See Through Dresses ’re made from a firmer material than most workout leggings and are designed to support your muscles through a high intensity workout. The thicker material also means they have a sculpting and shaping quality to them which, supposedly, creates a smoother silhouette. I’ve never really bought into this. Katie's Twitter page are bumps are just that and have to come out somewhere, right?

Please note, I am 34 weeks pregnant in these photos which does affect the visual fit of the clothes.

Theleggingsare Katie's Pinterest page and full length. They have bonded ankles to stop the lycra fabric riding up or chaffing during movement and a wide waistband that helps the leggings stay in place during movement. The back band has a concealed pocket big enough for a smart phone and/or house key.

I’m 34 weeks pregnant at time of reviewing and can safely say that the waist band does stay firmly in place, even with my ever-growing belly. It also supports my bump and makes it easier to carry. This suggests that the compression technology in these leggings is fairly sturdy and will definitely support your muscles and reduce the risk of injury when working out. I’ll definitely be using them to support my tummy after my c-section.

I’m wearing a size 18, which is one size bigger than I normally wear for sports leggings. I sized up to allow for the baby bump and would say that they are very true to size. The thicker fabric means that the leggings aren’t at risk of flashing your underwear when you squat, maintaining their opaqueness and form through movement. The leggings are also very comfy and I’ll definitely be getting a pair in thevibrant bluewhen I’m recovered enough to start my post-natal fitness classes.

Themedium impact sports brais a crop-top style bra that pulls on over the head. It comes with removable foam cups (which I have removed) and scrappy back detail. There is a zipped pocket, just big enough for a folded bank note, locker or house key, concealed in the band just beneath the left breast.

The bra offers compression to the boobs that, for a fuller bust, would be suitable for lower impact activities. I’ll be wearing this for yoga, pilates, walking and general daily wear. I wouldn’t recommend it for higher impact activities such as cycling, jogging, HIIT training or weight lifting.

Looking for a fuller bust sports bra? Read my review of three DD+, high impact sports bras.

I’m wearing a size 18 which is my usual size for non-cup sized bras and it is a good fit. The fabric encases my H cup breast and there is little to no tissue overspill under my arms.

TheSupersoft hoodiereally is the snuggliest of items. Made from a brushed fabric the hoodie has a slightly cropped style and a drawstring neckline. The material feels great against your skin and it’s perfect for throwing on for a yoga or pilates class.

I’m wearing a size 18 and it has a slouchy fit without being oversized. The sleeves are long enough to cover my wrists – this is rarely the case with standard fitted items on my 5ft10 frame.

As you can see, I really do like this range and will probably be investing in several more pieces postpartum. Have Katie's Pinterest page tried any of the Good Move range? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Great review, my wife shops at Marks and spencers and these seem very good for her, btw i imagine its very cold up there lol

Those leggings look fab. I bought myself some walking trousers but they haven’t got enough give in them

These look like a good range and it’s fab that they come in a range of different sizes

Always good to invest in quality active wear for sure. The stuff I have has lasted ages already which is great xx

I really like Marks and Spencer clothing in general but I don’t think I’ve taken a look at their active wear much which I really need to as their sizes come out really good x

The range looks great, fantastic that there is so much variety. Love the look of the supersoft hoodie and great that the leggings are made with thicker fabric.

I really like that style on you and that bra looks really supportive. Might have to head down to Marks & Spencer is to check it out and try some on

The Supersoft hoodie looks so cosy and warm! I love that the sports bra has the little pocket, although I’d prefer one a little more supportive.
